God is at work in Iran
PEOPLE IN NEED
What do you do when you are excluded by people in your own community just because you are a Christian? Or worse, when your possessions are taken away and your life is in danger?
In the Bible, we see many people living as strangers. Think of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. All three fled during their lives because of famines (Gen. 12:10, 26:1, 42:1-2). We would now call them economic refugees.
Moses fled because he had killed an Egyptian and lived as a stranger in Midian (Ex. 2: 11-15). Like David, he is an example of a political refugee.
Jesus is the most extraordinary refugee in the Bible. As a baby, He had to flee to Egypt (Mat. 2: 13-15). At the end of His life, His followers had to flee.
After Jesus' death, the emerging Christian churches were persecuted and scattered. (Acts 8:1)
